The Medical Diagnostic Imaging (MDI) Department gives the power of knowledge and the technical touch (skills) to all Radiographers and Medical Imaging Specialists (MIS) to become a focal point between patients, physicians, and state of the art equipment in providing high quality images of the anatomy and physiology of different diseases.
Department Overview
Students are introduced to an array of practical and academic courses in the safe use of imaging techniques, learn about skeletal radiology, imaging of the chest and abdomen, fluoroscopy (real-time images on a TV monitor) imaging of the digestive system, the heart, blood vessels and urinary system. Courses in radiographic techniques, Diagnostic equipment and Care of the Patient are given. Advanced technique courses include interventional radiography, Ultrasound (US), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), and Nuclear Medicine (NM). Senior students receive practical experience under supervision, in clinics and hospitals to gain knowledge of the latest digital systems, link academic knowledge and practical skills whilst working as a team member with other health professionals.
